Making Room for Autumn

Temperatures are supposed to dip into the mid 30's tonight. A brisk welcome to the month of September! It looks like summer just might be behind us. Before we know it, it will be time to break out sweaters and hats for evening campfires! The change in seasons makes me happy, which is one of the many reasons I love living in Vermont. Sending warm thoughts your way! xo K

Keeping Up With Kaht and Devin: 1 Month

On this date, next month, Devin and I will be donning our fancy garb, drying our sweaty palms, and anxiously anticipating seeing one another for the first time on our wedding day.

OH MY GOODNESS!! If I had a tail...it would be wagging.

At times I think, "I wish it were closer!! Why must it be So. Far. AWAY!" And then at other times, four weeks is not nearly enough time to get everything ready and I contemplate vomiting in my shoe. Truly though, the wedding could happen this weekend and although the favors would not be finished and my dress would not be ready, I would be marrying Devin and that would just make it perfect.

Enough sappy stuff though. We have one month left to get everything in tip-top shape and so into high gear I go. This past weekend (after a wonderful surprise Bridal Shower! Yay!) Devin, Mum and I broke out some of my Grandmum's salt and pepper shaker collection. We thought it might be neat to have different s+p shakers on each take. And they certainly are different. As I washed them tonight, I could not resist sharing them with you! Many of them date back to the 70's....and you will see what I mean.

Sweetheart Table anyone?

Ye-Haw, WILD WEST!

Two of the chubbiest (and cutest) Blue Birds ever!

There is no explanation for this one. Vegetarians table??

These two are tiny, but pretty cool since the propeller turns.

By far the fanciest s+p shakers I have ever seen!

How Sweet It Is! Amy & Dave

Amy and Dave met when they were young and carefree in college. A friend introduced them with no real intention of love budding, but it did and 8 ½ years later they are still young and carefree and totally in love. It was friendship and a mutual fondness for singing the Abby Road album out loud that brought them together and they proclaimed their love and devotion for one another in front of their family and friends at The Mountain Top Inn. And Justin and I were there to capture it. :)

Despite a little rain that kept the ceremony under the tent, we were blessed with a rainbow during the cocktail hour: A bit of extra luck for the newlyweds!

Thank you Amy and Dave for sharing your wedding and celebration with us! Life holds many good things for you, I know it! And if you don't trust me, trust that lucky rainbow! xo Kaht

Amy truly had a smile that would light up the room, and a laugh to match!!

Dave's two best men: his close friend and father.

Dave worked the "smile with your eyes" trick like whoa! I'm still impressed.

Amy and Dave's close friend, who had a hand in introducing them, became a J.P. just so she could perform the ceremony for them. It was very sweet.

Good luck!

The first dance was full of sweet smiles and fancy dance moves.

Toasts!

The box held white stones that Amy and Dave's family and friends added as a symbol of their support and love for their marriage.

Fabulous cake done by none other than Cakes by Irene!

A little Thriller.

This weekend I head back to the Mountain Top Inn to work alongside my friend and fellow photog Amanda of Orchard Cover Photography and then Sunday it is off to the Lilac Inn in Brandon with Justin. A full weekend, but then a week of vacation!

Have a beautiful rest of the week!

Fern Baby

A few updated images of the ever handsome (and growing quickly!) Ryland. He is now almost 1.5 months old! Oh sweetheart, stop growing soooo fast. xo Kaht

And my little assistant with the light reflector. How do you make a 2.5 year old smile when she does not want to? Ask her to say "Flubber busters".   :)

Keeping Up with Kaht and Devin: The Kids.

Ali was about 8 months old and just learning to crawl when I interviewed for the posted babysitting position. I was looking for a job to keep my college funds up, put a little cash in the mocha latte jar, and keep me busy. What I did not expect to find was a family who would become as close to me as my own family. A family that would welcome me into their lives and trust me with their darling children. I was certainly blessed!

After several years of taking care of Ali and Bella, it was a sad parting when it came time for me to return to Vermont. Now our times together are now farther apart and short, but when we do get to visit, we certainly make the best of it!

A couple weeks ago Devin and I travelled to Indiana to play stand-in Mom and Dad to Ali, Bella, and Kane (born after my move to Vermont) for the weekend while Paul and Tiff travelled. For two weeks prior to our departure, I told anyone that might listen to me about my upcoming trip to see my kids! God help you all when I actually have some of my own. I'll never stop talking!

Needless to say, it was an absolutely wonderful reunion. Devin and I adore these kids, even if they tucker us out and require that we go to bed at 9pm. ;) Thank you Paul and Tiff for letting us borrow them for a few days! Enjoy the photos. xo K

At first, Kane is a verrry serious young man. But when he gets warmed up...you'll see...

We popped by the Valparaiso University Center for the Arts (mine and Devin's old stomping grounds) and poked our heads into the Photo Lab. It was very dark and locked unfortunately, however when peeked through the papers on the door, what did I see staring back at me??? MY EYE!! Amazing that it is still stuck there:) It was part of my good friend Kristen's art show a handful of years ago.

We were hoping we might stumble across my photog professor Aimee, but alas, she was smart and stayed away from school on summer vacation:) Don't you just love how her office is decorated though?!

The new Harre Student Union (built just as we were walking out the door with cap and gown) was stunning! Very jealous that it came after my time. There were just so many chairs begging me to take a snooze in them. :)

I particularly loved the snakey sofa.

Me and my girls!

Ah, yes....Once Kane warms up to you, he is a bit of a devil. ;)

My beautiful Ali, nearly grown up. She enters first grade this year. I kept telling her, "I remember when you were not even crawling yet!" She would sigh and then tell me I was old. :)

We lucked out bother times we went to the pool: it was nearly empty! Perfect for two amateur parents and three kiddos. WAHOO!

Okay, this is just showing off my D700. This is a crop of the above photo. Look at the detail!!!! I LOVE IT!!!

Handsome beach bums ;)

And my little fuzzy Bella bunny.

Devin certainly got a workout as the kids loooved piggy back rides. At nap, everyone got a piggy back ride upstairs...one-by-one. :D

One thing that certainly tickled me pink was seeing my photos hanging in their home. That is just a cool thing for an artist to see!
