Keeping Up with K&D: WEDDING DAY!!!

Happy Friday! I have a treat :)

Finally!!!

Devin and I were married on September 26, 2009. It was possibly the most beautiful day all fall! Good fortune was with us, especially after such a rainy summer. But yes, this day dawned bright and beautiful, warm and stunning. A perfect day for a wedding.

We both knew right from the day we were engaged that we wanted an autumn wedding: bright colors, crisp air, and of course being able to invite our guests to visit Vermont at its most glorious! We also had a very distinct vision on how we wanted to design our wedding, featuring local Vermont treats and many unique vintage items. And we had a great time making it a reality!

Bless Devin, my family and friends a million times because they stuck by me through making our invitations, picking fruit and making jam for favors, finding the right fabric for the girls' sashes, picking matching ties, and finding the perfect dress. Truly, they trusted me on every nutty idea I had and supported me along the way!

And when wedding day came, I put my trust in my vendors and tried to relish each moment as it flew by. And wow, it really flew by. Truly, we had a great team of people working for us that allowed everyone to enjoy the day and night! Thank you.

A Peek at Things to Come!

I promised a good friend a treat on the blog this afternoon if she got her work done this morning. Well, this is not exactly the treat I had in mind, but I think she will enjoy it none-the-less and understand that for the best things in life, one must wait patiently! ;)

So here it is, a peek at what is to come next week! And OH! Look who it is....it's me! Fancy that :)

Have a great weekend everyone. Hug your family, hug your friends, hug your pets because life is way too short to not hug the ones we love. xo Kaht

Alex and Kevin's Mountain Top Inn Wedding

This past week has been a slow week that has consisted of me sitting hunched over at Devin's computer entering numbers and notes so that I will be prepared for my friendly tax guy. Today I decided I needed a break. Actually, my back and neck needed a break! And I decided you deserved a treat. How about some wedding photos?

I have a few weddings from this past season that still have not be put up on the blog. Hey! I was a busy girl....getting married and such :) I also thought it might be nice to have some pretty weddings from the warm summer months to look at during the cold days of winter.

Alex and Kevin's wedding took place on a very warm August day at one of my favorite locations: The Mountain Top Inn & Resort. Future brides, check this location out! Everything from the staff to the scenery is simply wonderful. I always love returning here :) And this time I returned as a second shooter for my friend and fellow photographer Amanda of Orchard Cove Photography. We always have a great time together at weddings!

And without further ado, enjoy some of my favorites! xo Kaht

I love love LOVED Alex's gown from JCrew. It was simply elegant (and it had pockets!!). The lockets were a gift from Alex to her girls. Very sweet :)

Alex's cousin and Matron of Honor, Christina, is a professional design artist and had a big hand in the design and details for the wedding. The invitation and totes are just a few examples!

I love the reactions to Alex's debut in her gown. Perfect!

Lined up and ready to go!

I love how Alex is peaking around the bushes to see everyone who is seated for the ceremony :)

I always tear up when a father gives his daughter one last kiss before she is a married woman. Such a beautiful moment.

Husband and wife!!

Alex was simply lovely.

Caught this during the receiving line: 'We're married!'

I am constantly asked by people, "You go to a lot of weddings...do you have a favorite part?" And my typical drop kick answer is "The cake!" Really though, it is the people. The love, the families, the happiness, the joy and that all comes about because of the people. Weddings always have so many happy faces that afterwards, I cannot help to be glowing myself! Even if i do not get to have cake ;)

Kevin and Alex had a lot of happy faces at their wedding :)

What was I saying about cake? A cake bar! And what a great idea too. The cutouts in front of the wedding cake were from Alex and Kevin's yesteryears: a surprise by their moms!

What a beautiful day.

Portrait Session: Jennelle, Joseph & Jonathan at The Hop

Meet Jennelle...

Joseph...

and Jonathan.

Three loving siblings...

...who have fun together...

...be goofy together...

...and pick on one another.

But generally they get along pretty well.

Just before the New Year, Anne (MIL) and I met up with these three fantastic people for a fun photo session as a gift to their parents. Awesome idea! And we really did have a great time.

Jennelle has been a great friend for many years and I loved being able to finally photograph her! It was also pretty awesome to see the guys again because really the only memory I have of them (from years ago!) is as annoying little brothers. Have faith Big Sisters, little annoying brothers DO GROW UP! I have proof. These guys were pretty cool.

Loved this red wall! I just told everyone to go up and "do their thing." The results made me smile.

It was a pretty brisk day, so much of our photo taking was done inside at The Hopkins Center for the Arts. Very cool building with great light!

We did tough it up a little bit though and rushed outside for literally...5 minutes?

I love these next two images of Jennelle. The light was just perfect!

Jennelle, you are just stunning my friend! Thank you for being so naturally beautiful :)

To snag a phrase from my friend's Daria & Andy: "The Parting Shot". At one instance this bike was visible in the background of a shot, so I asked Jonathan to go and move it. Everyone joked that I was making my client into a common bike criminal :) Somebody has to do the dirty work! Thanks for taking that on Jonathan :)
Enjoy the weekend! xo Kaht
