St Patrick's...Cows

I am slowly coming to the realization that I am not as good as Martha Stewart. Yes, I understand that she has many people on her payroll. Yes, I understand that they probably are the ones that come up with the fantastic creative ideas. (Or some of them.) And yes, I understand that it is their job to implement these awesome ideas. But sometimes when a holiday sneaks up on me and I don't do anything creative or fun, I feel totally lame.

It took me until half way through St. Patrick's Day to think, 'Huh, I should make something Irishy for desert." Guinness cake was out because (duh!) we had no Guinness in the pantry. As the pantry seemed to be missing more than just Guinness, sugar cookies were the desert of choice. As I pulled out the cookie cutters one by one I realized that had I thought ahead of time and got my Martha S. creative juices flowing like 48 hours ago, I might have thought to buy a shamrock cookie cutter. Instead I was stuck with a heart, star, bus, tree, snowman, angel, butterfly....nothing that even hinted at St. Patrick's. Curses! And then I saw it, the cow cookie cutter. 'They have cows in Ireland, right? Sure they have sheep, but I bet there are cows too!' And so I made Irish cows.

I would like to think that Martha would give me a pat on the back for being so innovative in such a situation. Maybe I would get a "Creative Chick" award even :) Or perhaps I will just find a shamrock cookie cutter in my mailbox next week, compliments of Martha Stewart Living. Either way, they made Devin smile and they are perfect with a cup of tea.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Just don't be as "creative" as Martha in how you handle investment tips ...

Since most of our investments com from you FIL, we'll just trust that you and Martha are not swapping ideas ;)
