Color the Day!
I ♥ snow.
I ♥ winter.
And I definitely ♥ all of the fun activities like sledding, snowshoeing and skiing that come with snow and winter.
Howevvvver, I do not like gray cold weather or slush or frozen car doors. (I broke the handle off my door just last week because it was frozen!! Yes. I have muscles.)
And today is just one of those days.
So I decided I needed a little color in my life and perhaps you do as well. These are from a weekend drive Devin and i took this past fall. We love exploring Vermont and seeing all of the amazing views and sights! Just makes me love this state more and more.

Shauni & Gerren's Chilly Capital City E-Session
It was a beautiful brisk day when I met up with Shauni and Gerren. These two wonderful people go way back in my life. Like...waaaaay back. They knew me at the epitome of my geekdom: permed hair, red frame glasses (with NO lenses!) and year-round flip flops. I was smooooth folks. So when Shauni contacted me with the great news of their engagement, I did a little dance and reminisced the good old days. Oh how far we have come!
On a quick trip home to Vermont for the holidays (they currently live in CA!) we met up, sipped hot drinks at Capital Grounds in Montpelier, talked about the past, present and future and took some photos. Their wedding is next September and I am SOOO looking forward to it! Their ideas sound positively awesome :)
So grab a hot drink, sit back and enjoy some lovely photos. xo Kaht

Such beautiful smiles!

Shauni, you are beautiful! End of story.

When the bitter wind became too much we popped into the Capital Plaza Hotel to warm up by the fire. The staff was so kind to allow us to sit a few minutes! Thank you :)

*FUN*

I love a couple who is willing to be a little silly :) Thank you S&G!! xoxo

*Engagement Story* Dave Matthews Band music has a bit of a history for Shauni and Gerren, going back to the early days of High School when Shauni borrowed the CD from Gerren. So when Gerren decided to pop the question, he gave Shauni a Dave Matthews Band CD case. She was a little confused at first because "We already have this CD..." but he encouraged her to open the case and the ring was inside. I LOVE engagement stories!

Keeping Up with K&D: Cushion Cat
Our family departed this morning to head home to Detroit and as they pulled away the sparkles and dazzles of holiday vacation time trailed off with them into the snowy morning.
Vacation time is officially over.
A feeling of normality permeates our humble abode as I clean up the mittens and wool socks from our ski trips this past week. Everything is tucked away until we find the time to venture out again into Vermont's snowy wonderland.
Leisl pit-pats down the stairs to see what I am up to and rubs once on my legs before belly flopping onto the carpet. I think vacation tuckered him out too.
Now on this first official work day of 20-10, I'm starting off right on those New Year's Resolutions. I'm not going to share what they are because you might hold me accountable. Needless to say, I think I will be my own worst enemy for a little while :) xo Kaht

Happy New Year!
This morning after my shower and bowl of yogurt, I sat down at my desk and about fell over backwards.
It is December 31, 2009 and my To-Do list is a scribble of notes and reminders and things starred as *IMPORTANT*!! It is so long that it nearly rolls down the stairs and out the door.
This cannot be a good start to a new year...
And then a little voice (actually my Mother-in-Law's sweet voice) reminds me to live today, not tomorrow and let the past be but a good memory. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed by the big picture that I miss the details. And it is the details that I am so fond of! So today, I am not tackling the To-Do list....not the whole thing at least. I'm taking care of a few little details and then calling it a good year. There is family to spend time with and memories to make!
So Happy New Year Everyone!
2009 has truly been amazing. AMAZING!! I am so blessed by all of the people I have met, friends I have made and stories I have to share of memories that make me smile! And there are some awesome stories! So, enjoy your memories and relish the details. For now, the big picture can wait. xo Kaht

Keeping Up with K&D: Merry Christmas!
The house is cleaned and the linens are ironed. The stockings are hung and the presents are wrapped. Packages have been mailed, donations have been sent, parties have been attended and cookies have been baked. And yet the To-Do list is longer than is was last week...
But for the next few days everything else can wait. These are the few days out of the year that are strictly reserved for family time.

My mother gave Devin and I a selection of my grandmother's antique ornaments for our first tree.

This ornament I received at a gift exchange with our church. It is by a Vermont artist who was chosen to make an ornament for a tree at The White House.

We found these nifty 3D glasses that make the Christmas lights into different shapes. There were snowmen, snowflakes, and angels, but our favorite was the star!

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone! I hope that you will be spending some quality time with the people you love. Be it family or friends, this is the time of year for gathering and joy! xo Kaht
